The decline of the index expanded rapidly, and the S & P market fell 10% from the intraday high set three weeks ago, entering the technical correction range.
Less than two and a half hours after opening, panic selling intensified. The NASDAQ and Nasdaq 100, which are dominated by technology stocks, fell by more than 4%, the Dow index fell to 950 points, S & P fell by 3.4%, and the US oil WTI fell by more than 3%.
Three hours before the opening, the Dow fell more than 1000 points, and the Russell 2000 small cap index fell 20% from the highest closing record in November last year, entering a technical bear market. VIX, the "panic index", reached 39, the highest in more than a year since November 2020, with an increase of 35%, the largest increase since the outbreak of Omicron news in November last year.
Two hours before the close, the decline of US stocks narrowed sharply to half of that at noon, with the S & P down 1.4%, the Dow down 430 points and the NASDAQ down 1.35%. Half an hour before the closing, the decline of the three major stock indexes narrowed to less than 1%, and small cap stocks took the lead in turning up. 25 minutes before the close, the NASDAQ and Philadelphia Semiconductor Index turned higher, and Russell 2000 rose more than 1.5%.
As of the close, the Dow closed up 0.29%, the S & P 500 index rose 0.28% and the NASDAQ rose 0.63%. The NASDAQ closed up after falling more than 4% for the first time since the 2008 financial crisis.
Large tech stocks were mixed, with apple down 0.49%, Microsoft up 0.11%, Google a up 0.22%, Yama up 1.33%, meta up 1.83% and Naifei down 2.6%.

3. European stocks plunged across the board on Monday, the biggest one-day decline in 19 months
European stock markets plunged on Monday, the worst one-day trading record in three months. The Stoxx Europe 600 index fell 3.8% to 45640. This is the most serious one-day decline since June 11, 2020.
Germany's DAX index fell 3.80%, France's CAC 40 index fell 3.97% and Britain's FTSE 100 index fell 2.63%.
Exante's senior economist said: "risk assets had just experienced a fairly bear market week before the poor start of the week. Investors were not satisfied with the earnings results of Bank of America in the fourth quarter, while at a broader level, concerns about the tightening policy of the Federal Reserve and the level of global high inflation also severely suppressed risk appetite."
4. International crude oil closed lower on Monday, and WTI crude oil futures fell 2.15%
International crude oil closed lower on Monday. WTI March crude oil futures fell $1.83, or 2.15%, to $83.31/barrel.
Brent March crude oil futures fell $1.62, or 1.84%, to $86.27 a barrel.
The sell-off was driven by broader fluctuations in financial markets, and the strengthening of the US dollar against other currencies also had an impact on oil prices, as higher oil prices will reduce their attractiveness to overseas buyers.
5. Gold futures closed up 0.54% on Monday, and the sharp decline in US stocks supported the gold price
Adrian ash, head of bullionvault research, said: "gold is clearly favored as a portfolio insurance. Rising interest rates usually have an adverse impact on gold, but since it is politically impossible to save stock investors with cheap money, the risk of the Fed raising interest rates too late is now getting worse.".
February gold futures, the most actively traded gold futures market on the New York Mercantile Exchange, rose $9.9 on the 24th from the previous trading day to close at $1841.7 an ounce, up 0.54%.
6. Bitcoin stopped falling and rebounded, and the rebound of risky assets helped it reverse its decline for five consecutive days
The late rebound of cryptocurrency was the same as the rise of US stock market. The 40 day correlation coefficient between bitcoin and the Nasdaq 100 index has reached nearly 0.66, the highest level since the compilation of relevant data began in 2010. A similar correlation coefficient between bitcoin and the S & P 500 index is also at a record level.
Cryptocurrencies have come under widespread selling pressure in recent weeks, with traders pointing to hawkish signals from the Fed and falling technology stocks prompting investors to flee risky assets. Bitcoin has fallen more than 50 per cent since hitting an all-time high of $69000 last November.
International macro
1. Affected by the Omicron epidemic, business activities in the United States have almost stagnated
Data released by IHS Markit on Monday showed that the initial value of the comprehensive purchasing manager index fell 6.2 points in December to an 18 month low of 50.8. Data above 50 suggest expansion.
Service industry indicators also fell to the lowest level since July 2020. Labor shortage and employee absenteeism put pressure on service industry activities.
The decline of the manufacturing index is relatively mild, but the index is still a new low since October 2020, the supply chain is still sluggish and the output is limited.
"Output is much more affected by Omicron than demand, and the strong growth in new business inflows suggests that growth will resume once restrictions are eased," said Chris Williamson, chief business economist at IHS Markit.
2. Food prices in the United States have soared repeatedly, and the giant enterprises have become hostile to the Biden government
Food companies said that the price rise was in line with the market law. The interference of extreme weather and epidemic on the supply chain increased production costs and reduced food supply; At the same time, demand is increasing both inside and outside the United States. However, the Biden administration and some senators believe that industry monopoly is the main source of price rise, and a few giant companies have the ability to raise prices and profit from inflation.
3. Russia and Ukraine are at war, and the financial market is trembling! The ruble once fell more than 2%, and European stocks fell across the board
Russian and Ukrainian government bonds, currencies and stock markets have been impacted, and the escalation of the situation may lead to a hasty withdrawal of investors.
Although the United States and Europe have not yet discussed sanctions on Russian commodities, the conflict may undermine the stability of natural gas and wheat futures prices and even threaten the short-term trend of European stocks.
Recently, as some investors turn to looking for the safest assets, their interest in US bonds has surged.
The EU foreign minister will discuss the Ukraine issue with US Secretary of state Blinken on Monday. Analysts believe that the volatility of the financial market may intensify during this period.
4. Who: this year is expected to end the worst phase of the epidemic
The director general of the World Health Organization, Tak Desai, said that in the foreseeable future, mankind will coexist with COVID-19, and there are likely to be more mutants in the current situation. If all countries can make full use of all the strategies and tools, this year will end the worst stage of the epidemic. COVID-19 will no longer be a public health emergencies around the world.

From January to November 2021, the production of German electronic and electrical industry increased by nearly 9%, and the sales increased by nearly 10% year-on-year. The association predicts that the overall sales of the industry is expected to exceed the 200 billion euro mark for the first time in 2021.
Gunther Kegel, President of the association, said that almost all electrical sub industries have achieved "positive development" thanks to the increase in exports to other countries. Among them, the battery industry increased by nearly 40%.
6. German chancellor: will promote a new round of coronavirus vaccination campaign
German Chancellor Scholz said at a press conference after the meeting that Germany needs to adhere to the current epidemic prevention measures and vigorously promote a new round of vaccination campaign.
Scholtz said that although Germany has made some achievements in vaccination, it is far from enough.
7. Traders predict that the decline in US stocks will not allow the fed to suspend tightening, and the March interest rate hike is imminent
Historically, the sharp decline in the US stock market and other risky assets has temporarily stopped policymakers, but this time, even under the current sharp decline in the stock market led by technology stocks, the bet on raising interest rates this year has not wavered,
The swap market shows that the Federal Reserve is expected to raise interest rates by 25 basis points in March, and the market expects to raise interest rates by nearly a full percentage point in 2022.

2022.01.25 05:27 2Zak Extruder stops heating after around 10 minutes of printing and print fails

TL;DR: What the title says, what could be causing it? Already tried re-slicing and slicing with different programs but the problem persists. I can't do the repair myself but I'm gathering info and/or suggestions to pass on to whoever is responsible for the printer.
So I have access to this printer (not from a major manufacturer) and it suddenly started having a problem where at around 10 minutes into the print, according to the temperature sensor on the screen, the extruder stops being heated and slowly goes from 215ºC to under 160ºC, which causes it to stop extruding. Then, at some point, it starts going up again and it tries printing again (with not good results). This happens on different gcodes generated by different slicers and of different prints (well, one of them is two copies of the same piece, other is a single copy, but they're different enough I think).
My first guess is that there's a loose/bad connection on the thermistor, but the fact that it's always around the same time even on different prints doesn't quite add up (I'd assume a faulty wire/connection would be more random than that). So any ideas as to what other problems could be causing this? I'm not sure I'll be able to do anything to the printer itself, but I'm trying to pin the problem down so I can tell the people responsible for it (or the people who can speak to the people responsible for it, to be precise) what's most likely to be happening.
