2022.01.17 17:23 Cute_Part4654 How to Deal With a Boss Who Wants Me to Be Every Role Im Not?
I am a content writer for “Bob,” whom of which runs his own company “Selling Electronic Parts” to other businesses (Specifics Changed for Anonymity).
When I first began a few years ago, we simply wrote short blogs to generally advertise products, increase traffic, etc. with the occasional odd job here and there like creating a social media post for Christmas. Despite general work toxicity, it was an okay gig for awhile.
Bob is a salesman at heart, and he still digs his fingers directly into every department so he can ensure its managed how he likes, he has the final okay, etc. Now, when a successful salesmen controls other salesmen, sure, things go somewhat well as they can learn from him. For other departments, not so much. Additionally, he is the basic boss where everything that leaves his mouth is “we are a family,” “we care about work life balances,” we want to make everyone’s job easier” while actively doing the opposite.
As Bob also completely oversees our department as well, our tasks will often adjust on a whim with any new idea of his (many of which fall through and are forgotten about). While these would come and go from time to time and rarely affect our general role of writing, these recent months have been getting out of hand with new ideas and endeavors.
He met with us a few months ago to discuss our desires for professional and personal growth, and the few of us at the time explained that we want to stick to more creative or website content writing, not be stretched out with too many roles, and generally avoid things we didn’t go to school for or apply for (i.e doing major marketing analysis, sales, etc.)
We thought this was then said and done, but he has grown very over zealous with growth for this next year and has been going crazy in each department to demand we increase sales across the board and do all we can for the blanket goal of growth.
For me, this means that he now wants me to manage more than one writing team to spearhead content and marketing, begin creating specific and thorough market and customer analysis to increase sales (I don’t know how to do this and will not be paid a cut of the deal), spearhead social media across all platforms with regular posting, create and manage all onboarding materials, take notes for daily and weekly meetings (sometimes more than one a day), and so much more. He has also started calling on weekends and demands we be available to answer as “his head is most clear then.” We have been told about one new role a week, and a new role idea pops out of his head before we even address the last. All in all, we would be adding these jobs and have to complete them with 3 full time members, one half week part time worker, and now a couple outsourced employees. Also, I will no longer be writing and will stay at my same pay. When I told him this is not the type of writing we do nor is much of it writing, I was blown off.
Now, these are all red flags and honestly probably means I should just run, but thats not realistic atm as I recently moved to a new state, covid is crazy, and I cant afford the chance of going with severely reduced pay for the state I live in in an emergency situation with backed up bills. As such, what is the best way to simply take the chance in confronting my boss and saying that this is all way too much, I cant do roles that I didn’t go to school with nor did I take this job to do that, and I have not seen any increase in pay or a promise for it with a low chance of being fired? All in all, I can maybe make do if shit hits the fan, but id rather try something first as he has expressed our importance to the point that I don’t think it would be a quick fire if I spoke my mind somewhat.

2022.01.17 17:23 Special_Matter_272 I'm working on an app that helps you find herbs to reduce or relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety. We're people who've struggled with or had people close to us struggle with pharmaceutical prescriptions and wanted to explore natural ways to relieve our symptoms.
We are in the early stages of building an app and looking for interested folks to co-ideate with us. Our app, Nara, helps users navigate herbal options that can work for them based on their symptoms, risk factors, etc.
If you feel like this app can help you, and you'd like to try it out (free, of course), we'd love for you to join our beta community here - www.nara.care. When we launch the app, you'll be able to directly share feedback on what is useful, what isn't useful, and what you'd like to see more of. In the meantime, we welcome any questions and requests for what you would find helpful in an app like this. To return the favour, we're happy to provide you with a free lifetime subscription when it launches!
Your input will help shape the value this app can provide for people looking for herbal ways to reduce or relieve symptoms of depression and anxiety.
We are grateful for any feedback or ideas on our app! Feel free to drop any questions below, and I'll answer as soon as possible.

2022.01.17 17:23 cherry7812 Question about passing G through shortened test
This may sound super silly, but do you guys think that the G licenses obtained through a temporarily modified testing (no parking or 3 pt turn, etc) will still be as valid as licenses given after the full test occurred, as in there won’t be any issues in the future?
I am asking because many are mad about these changes they feel the government is compromising the safety of people so wondering if the government can or may remove the validity of those licenses?
I got my G recently through modified testing but was prepared for the full test and have practiced so many times.

2022.01.17 17:23 practicallycrazy Chicken strips in place of chicken cutlets?
I’m looking to remake the balsamic tomato and herb chicken over buttery garlic spaghetti meal, which calls for chicken cutlets. My local grocery store was wiped of their poultry, so all I’m stuck with are pre made frozen chicken strips. Could I use those or should I just wait til I can find actual chicken cutlets? 🤦🏼♀️

2022.01.17 17:23 Weightless-Rock Controlling a 12V proportional valve
| Hello guys,|
I'm using an arduino to control a 12V proportional valve (pvq31-6g-40-01 - proportional valve) through a PWM signal.
I attached a picture of what the circuit looks like & instead of using 24V, I use 12V.
Now my issue is that I can only open the valve but cannot close it. Even if there's no voltage applied to the gate of the mosfet, there's still air flowing.
In the datasheet, it says that it's a NC valve and that without electrical signal it should go back to its closed state.
Do you guys have any experience with this issue?
