2021.12.03 00:17 NikklBack_ASA Join a new NFT platform with less competition and more engagement!

If you're looking for a new place to sell your NFTs, and want to get in on the ground-floor of something brand new, Give Crescendo a try!
What is Crescendo?
Crescendo is a new Algorand Standard Asset that exists to help up-and-coming artists and musicians.
1.) Crescendo allows you to support up-and-coming artists and musicians - 15% of Crescendo's total supply is set aside for donations to art-and-music charities. Additionally, the Crescendo platform is used to buy MP3s, physical merchandise, NFTs, and experiences from up-and-coming artists and musicians.
2.) Crescendo has a real-world use case - Too many emerging ASAs have no real use case. It may be fun to invest in tokens with funny names, but without a purpose, many of these ASAs are destined to fail. Crescendo is used for transactions, donations, and truly is a coin with meaning.
3.) Crescendo is governed by the holders - Crescendo holders get to vote on charities to support, and changes that will affect the community. Crescendo holders have already voted on additional distributions for holders and even the decision to relaunch NikklBack as Crescendo was made by the community.
4.) Crescendo holders and liquidity providers are rewarded regularly - Each week, at the end of the week, wallets with 1M CRSD or greater that haven't sold any CRSD in the last TWO weeks will split an airdrop equivalent to 0.25% of the remaining airdrop balance. There are also monthly airdrop lotteries for holders with over 1M CRSD. Any wallet containing at least 5 CRSD Liquidity Pool tokens will be eligible for a Liquidity-Provider airdrop each month.
5.) Crescendo is working with a talented smart-contract developer to make our token safe - We're all aware that there are far too many rugpulls in emerging cryptocurrencies. This is why Crescendo is working with a talented dev to lock, not only our manager wallet, but all other project wallets as well. Unlike many other tokens, Crescendo will unlike funds slowly according to a schedule that allows Crescendo to grow the project and keep your investment safe.

2021.12.03 00:17 Deliveredbyduncan What in the HELL!!!

Ubereats is getting worse everyday. I have never seen so many piss ant offers in my life....I guess they have enough new naive drivers that will accept them. But I am not giving in to ubers illegal, dishonest, and straightforward fraudulent tactics to get us to lose more and more money. A company that once saved me and my family is now trying to take from me and my family. . And lord I wish that ceo would read this shit.....I would pay every dime I had to have about 30 seconds in a 8ร—8 room with him....which might happen one day because he will end up in trouble one day for allowing the treatment us drivers get. I'm sick of these Fuckers stealing from us and making all that money they have....and still don't show a profit overall. The stockholders need to get rid of that bitch....that's my rant for the night... Now back to work....SHIT

2021.12.03 00:17 JLGoodwin1990 I never want to own a car, truck or SUV made after 1999

I'm someone who actually likes to work on my own vehicles, routine maintenance, changing the oil and belts, etc. With new vehicles, that has been made almost entirely impossible in order to force the owner to take their vehicle to the dealership and pay exorbitant and abhorrent prices to do so. I'm also not a fan of how computer controlled they have become in the last two decades. The computer chip shortage currently happening is a perfect example, since they are so imbued with them that they can't fuction without them. I personally don't need, nor do I want things like GPS, 30 way power seats or automatic start/stop or cylinder deactivation.
I also care greatly about my privacy, which is why I own no smart devices, no computers newer than 2007, no flat screen TVs or Alexas or anything, and still use a flip phone, since that minimizes the amount of data that can be siphoned from me. Some may say that if a person has nothing to hide, they shouldn't have anything to worry about. I disagree, sticking to my principles, and highly valuing having any form of privacy at all, along with not having vast swathes of my personal data and information sold and shared. Modern cars, trucks and SUVs all have multiple ways of collecting and compiling data about you, from your weight due to the seat sensors, to where you travel due to GPS and being a connected vehicle in the last ten to twelve years, to what you listen to through the radio. Not only that, but there are also rumors that, in the newest infrastructure bill that just recently passed here in the U.S., is a clause that, over the next five years, every new car must be equipped with a remote kill switch. That crap thoroughly creeps me out, sounding very big brother-ish, and I am not about that.
I also prefer the older designs of vehicles from the 90s on back over modern vehicles. They have unique designs that help even the least appealing econobox have a distinct look, wheras thanks to the strangling safety and efficiency rules, all of the new cars, trucks and SUVs start to meld and blend into each other in terms of body style and lines. With older cars, you can easily tell the difference, even at night, between an Explorer, a Mercedes S Class, a Lumina, Taurus, Omni, Daytona, 280 Z, Century, Skylark, Town Car or a classic muscle car. Not with the new ones.
For those reasons, plus quite a few others I won't go into since I'll write a complete novel, I will never own a car made in this century, or even drive one. I really don't care about modern safety standards, gas mileage, comforts or luxuries or anything else. In fact, I plan on purchasing as many 90s and older cars, trucks and SUVs as I can this decade before they become as expensive as the ones from the 50s, 60s and 70s are getting. I'll be the old man in the 2040s and 2050s still driving those cars, even if I have to pay an arm and a leg for gasoline. That's all there is to it.

2021.12.03 00:17 JustSomeBadAdvice Xposting some requested info from r/cc

Sorry to post this in a random subreddit but it is tangentially related. There's an active post on cryptocurrency with a lot of people here:
They asked me for my thoughts now, 8 years later, but when I posted them it got caught by automod. 7 hours later the cc mods still haven't approved it. Some can't find it on my history so posting it here.
haha, another post about it? Geez, lol. Aight, here is what I have been PMing people, with some edits for a larger audience. I'm pretty good about responding to PM's as well (but not chats, I never read the chat system).

Hi, I'm glad you liked my post from 8 years ago here:
Re-reading it, a lot of what I have said has come true, and mostly I got it right even back then(Though not, as it turns out, in my concept of timing!). Since then, I've learned a lot more and adjusted my views on some things and gotten a lot of requests for more thoughts. I feel like I'm generally right, but hey, I'm just some random on the internet, so do with it what you will. Also just so people have some context for the original post, the Bitcoin price had spiked from $18 in January to $260, and then fallen extremely fast to $50 before it bounced. There was panic everywhere. Also I had told my mother in March that I didn't think we would ever see Bitcoin under $40 again, and I ended up correct on that.
#1 - Many of the things I said in the comments applies primarily to CRYPTOCURRENCY in general, and Bitcoin specifically but not assuredly. At the time I wrote that, I couldn't imagine that any other cryptocurrency could threaten Bitcoin's dominance, a belief I held up until 2017 when I watched /Bitcoin eject almost half its community over the blocksize debate, primarily fueled by misinformation and an absolute refusal to acknowledge the perspectives of the other side or compromise to keep the community in tact.
It might not seem like a big deal now, but Bitcoin is a network effect, and losing people out of network effect is a big problem. And network effects are really hard to measure. Since, at the time 8 years ago, I wasn't thinking of Bitcoin from the perspective of a competing ecosystem, I didn't think that anything short of government bans or a disastrous network vulnerability could threaten Bitcoin's long term value. Now, I realize that Bitcoin must compete with other cryptocurrencies while the world learns about and figures out how to make use of this incredible invention. Bitcoin's size and "brand" provide a substantial shield against competing cryptocurrencies - Simply being "better" than Bitcoin would be no threat at all - but it is not unlimited. That shield is built purely out of the network effects of people using and believing in Bitcoin over other coins.
Right now, only one other coin is a serious competitor to Bitcoin, I'm sure you can guess which. But people say that wasn't made to be a store of value!? Doesn't matter; It can and will provide whatever makes the best use of it, and it absolutely can provide store of value functionality, and already is for some. And now that it has become deflationary instead of inflationary, that's more reason to be concerned. Right now it is ~50% of Bitcoin's value, it peaked at 80% of Bitcoin's value in 2017 - Both should be very scary numbers for anyone not invested in both. It bottomed out at 11% of Bitcoin's value in the bear market, which is maybe good for BTC, but keep in mind that network effects are purely exponential. A 99/1 ratio is not really a concern, a 90/10 ratio is a clear concern, and a 67/33 ratio (where we are today) is almost no protection at all. Further, it is processing 4x more transactions per day, and while some will argue those aren't really "transactions", they fees they are paying are very very real - The fees Bitcoin wanted by keeping the blocksize small. Ethereum recently reached its highest level of pending fees (~750 eth = $3.4 million USD), whereas Bitcoin has barely even come close to its peak pending fee day from 2017 (368 BTC = ~$7 million USD, the closest this cycle was a short peak of 84.6 BTC = $4.5m in April).
While Ethereum having high fees is definitely not good for them (and I disagree with some of their decisions contributing to it!), and Bitcoin having low fees is good for now, the fact that it exists at all much less the 4x multiplier is very worrying for Bitcoin. Especially since half of the purpose of ejecting half the community in 2017 was because the ecosystem needed to transition to a reliable fee base for security, yet that has not happened at all. Ethereum currently has ~7x more fees revenue than Bitcoin. Ethereum also has 83% of Bitcoin's active address count, 66% of its trading volume, and ~32% of the google search interest volume. All that said...
#2 - Will Bitcoin be the dominant coin in ~1.5 years? I believe so. Ethereum may flip Bitcoin in value for a short time, but once the bull market fades it will reverse. Not all the way back down, but back with Bitcoin in the lead. ~5 years? Probably not, unless I've badly missed the mark on my understandings of how the ecosystems are growing and functioning, or Ethereum fails to improve the fee problems at all. Could Ethereum then lose the #1 spot? Possibly, but no other coin is currently close enough to be a viable alternative, and Ethereum would have to screw up pretty bad (like ejecting half its community in a vicious dispute).
#3 - This bull market is not done. Prices may well double from here (I've learned never to try to predict just how crazy people are willing to be)... But only for a short time. Then they will crash. We will go through another bear market and the next bull market will be ~3-5 years. Once we find the peak, expect anywhere from a 70 to 85% decline from the peak before we find the bottom. I have been telling friends and family not to buy for awhile now except for short term high risk trading(Gambling against a stacked deck, IMO). Save the money and wait until no one is paying attention again. When someone decides to sell, I've been recommending people sell half or less - I fervently believe in blockchain as the disruptive technology of our age.
#4 - All the new uses of Cryptocurrencies? They offer some potential and there was always a factor of "We don't even know what this could become!" even back 8 years ago. I think NFT's are dumb but you can find in a recent post where I argue fervently that the CONCEPT of NFT's is amazing. There's also huge potential for blockchains in supply chain management and real estate purchase escrow and settlement, both of which are great applications of Blockchain. (Though I am hyper suspicious of any new coins created specifically to focus on any of these things!). The speed at which the cryptocurrency community is experimenting with new ideas and uses is incredible, and I'm sure there's some killer applications we haven't stumbled on yet. A lot of things weren't even possible until the volumes get large like they have, and a lot more aren't even possible until prices finally begin to settle out in a decade or so. I don't recommend anyone make large (% or amount) investments into coins that haven't been around for at least one full bull/bear market cycle, that's just gambling with more steps.
#5 - I've seen people throwing out ridiculous numbers for long term price projections for Bitcoin/Cryptocurrencies. My projections in the linked thread didn't come out of thin air, though the particular values on the steps did (I was focused on highlighting the steps rather than the prices). In my opinion, anyone who projects a total cryptocurrency ecosystem value north of 100 trillion USD is not living in the real world. Somewhere between 20 and 100 trillion dollars we're going to reach the peak of the "true value" of the technology. Why that range? The stock markets are ~90 trillion. Adding up all money of all types in circulation across all countries lands around ~$100 trillion, ten times the value of all gold ever mined. Real estate lands at 300T, global wealth at ~360T (All numbers ~2020, various methods for estimating). For the specific things blockchains are good at, if we displace gold, portions of the stock markets & service industries, and reserve currency store of value, that puts is in the 20 to 100 trillion ballpark. I'm not saying the prices won't surpass that $100T mark someday, I'm saying I don't believe anything past that point is sustainable based on actual usefulness of the technology.
I sent all these replies as a PM thus far as I no longer post on or subscribe to /Bitcoin, since I've found saying anything except completely positive things about Bitcoin versus Ethereum would result in me being banned and my comments removed.
